About Trip:

Many of the natural marvels of Nepal also hold a significant religious and cultural importance to the people. As such, the Gokyo lakes are among those wonders that occupy the glaciated moraines and crevasses of the Everest Himalayas where the Hindu people believe the legendary snake gods- the Nagas, reside. Along with that, the Gokyo Lake Trek is a beautiful trekking journey that takes trekkers to the very lakes in the heart of the Khumbu.
The Gokyo Lake Trek is a moderate journey that presents trekkers with an alternate route. It is a great option for those who wish to experience the shrouded graces of the Everest. In addition to being a perfect option to an alternate route in the Khumbu than the well-trodden Everest Base Camp Trek, the Gokyo Lake Trek is encompassed with more supplementary aspects of the rather hidden beauties of the Khumbu region. The journey starts from the beautiful little settlement of Lukla and the trail goes through destinations like Phakding and Namche Bazaar from where the route deviates from the popular track to branch off towards hidden settlements of Dhole and Machhermo. Furthermore, the best highlight of the trekking journey is the gorgeous lakes of Gokyo and a visit to the Gokyo Ri from where panoramic views of the Gokyo valley as well as many Everest peaks like the Cho Oyu (8188m), Changtse (7543m), Kangtega (6782m), Mount Pumo Ri (7165m) and many others, including Mount Everest (8848m), can be seen in a grand and dauntingly beautiful manner. Many trekkers even argue that the view from the Gokyo Ri is even better than the one from Kalapatthar! The best times to do the Gokyo lake Trek are during the spring and the autumn. The spring season and the autumn months present the best weather conditions, unlike the winter where the lake tends to freeze. Spring lasts from March to May and the autumn season takes place from the months of September to November.
